Chalk, clay, walnut oil, coffee, turmeric, azurite…

The two-dimensional artworks present an irregular frame within a frame that is drawn with charcoal as a portal for the painting to be staged onto Italian Fabriano paper.

Natural plant dyes, walnut oil create a rich, organic foundation where earthy pigments soak into the fibers, forming soft, luminous layers. The absorbent quality of the paper allows the natural dyes to seep and blend mimicking the fluidity of sound. Over this base, geometric patterns are marked with charcoal, gouache or sometimes with Japanese ink.

In the three-dimensional artworks, a base layer of ochres, coffee and clay is painted onto the linen canvas. Then geometric patterns are drawn onto the canvas with Japanese Sumi ink as a background. Once the painted canvas is complete, handmade paper is cut into fluid, organic shapes inspired by the undulating patterns of sound frequency waves. These delicate yet sculptural paper forms echo the unseen rhythms of frequencies and the vibrating energies that surround us on a daily basis.
